What I Do

For over 15 years I’ve helped a wide range of people and organizations enjoy personalized, useable spaces. Custom Design Consulting services range from private residences, commercial spaces (including churches and non-profits), vacation properties, and more. No matter the type of space, the goal is the same — good design that combines function, beauty, and a one-of-a-kind look that lasts.

My Philosophy

Beautiful spaces don’t have to cost a fortune, unless you’re into that kind of thing. In short, small changes can make a big difference.

In addition to looking good, great design has to work. Form can meet function in a way that supports real-life. Gone are the days of a “Formal Living Room”; I believe that every room in a home should be livable and inviting — no space left behind. Spaces need to also reflect the lifestyles and look of the people that live there.

Celebrate your own personal style. Enjoy your surroundings. After you think about how you want to live, honor the physical things that have meaning; the rest will figure itself out.

My Methods

UNIQUE PROCESSES… Meaningful information is a critical part of good design. Equally important to industry knowledge is the client’s likes and dislikes. With the influx of catalogs, advertising, and information from social media, it can be hard for some people to decern their own preferences.

From the very beginning of the process, I ask a lot of questions. Sometimes it takes some investigation for people to come up with the answers. Upfront discovery allows the customization of design as well as information to keep budget and scope in check.

My Goals

STYLISH RESULTS.. Your stylish, new/improved space + your (reasonable) budget + your (realistic) timeline = My team’s priority. My goal is a very personalized design that reflects the client’s style with a stretch.

A project is a balance of time, money, and substance. Ultimately, AFD designs reflect your style and your lifestyle goals. A better version of themselves is how several clients describe the finished product, and that works for me.
